Results
Perception and adoption of soil health cards by farmers in Chittoor district
- Among sample of 60 farmers 50 farmers perceived as most use ful
- Among sample of 60 farmers, 18 farmers not done soil testing and remaining 42 farmers done soil testing.
- Among 42 farmers of done soil testing 20 farmers understood the soil testing results and remaining 22 farmers expressed that they did not understand the soil testing results.
- Among the 60 farmers only 5 farmers followed soil testing based fertilizer application.
Constraints expressed by the farmers for not following soil test based fertilizer application:
- Lack of awareness,
- Difficulty in understanding the soil test report,
- Poor exposure to areas adopting STBF application,
- Poor exposure to trainings on soil test based fertilizer application,
- Less involvement of Gram Panchayats in promoting soil test based fertilizer application
